Laminate Porcelain
What is Laminate Porcelain (Leaf Porcelain)?
minate porcelains are a specialized bonding technique applied solely to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are a type of restoration used to improve the color, shape, and alignment of the front teeth.

How to do it?
Laminate is a highly effective aesthetic dental treatment. It’s essential to review and evaluate the previous cases of the dentist performing the procedure before moving forward. Once trust is established and a decision is made, the process begins with a photo session. After taking precise measurements, a 3D design of the teeth is created.
During the second appointment, this 3D model—known as a wax-up—is temporarily applied to the patient’s mouth. This allows the patient to see a realistic preview of the final result without any changes being made to their natural teeth. The purpose of this session is to ensure the final outcome meets expectations and there are no surprises.
The shortest part of the process is the impression session. Detailed impressions are used to create accurate models of the patient’s teeth. On these models, thin laminate veneers are artistically crafted, tailored specifically to the individual.
In the following appointment, a trial fitting is done. If adjustments are needed, they are made before moving on to the most crucial step: the bonding session. Here, the laminates are permanently affixed to the teeth. The treatment concludes with a final check-up and a photo session to document the results.

What is the advantage over other types of porcelain restorations?
In laminate porcelain applications, minimal tooth reduction is required. In some cases, the procedure can be performed without any cutting of the tooth surface at all.
Laminate porcelain is the material that offers the most natural and aesthetically pleasing results. When done properly, it is extremely difficult to distinguish a high-quality laminate restoration from a natural tooth.
How long is the lifespan of laminate porcelain?
With proper oral care, laminate porcelains can last 15 to 20 years without issues. This durability is due to the superior qualities of porcelain, which is highly resistant to wear and staining. However, gum disease can reduce their lifespan. To maintain their longevity, it’s important to avoid harmful habits like biting very hard foods, nail-biting, and teeth grinding.
Can I bite and eat after laminate veneer?
A properly fitted laminate, placed with a fully equipped bonding procedure, will not detach or fall off. When securely bonded, a laminate functions just like a natural tooth, allowing normal biting and chewing. The only precaution is to avoid tearing or biting into very hard foods or objects. In short, any trauma strong enough to break a natural tooth can also break a laminate.
